At Say Oui To Français, our Learn French with Comics Workshops are unlike anything you’ve ever experienced. Instead of textbooks, we use a French or Francophone comic book (bande dessinée) as the heart of the lesson. Each workshop runs over 6 to 8 weeks, and every session feels more like a conversation among friends than a classroom.
What Happens in a Learn French with Comics Workshop in Edinburgh
Each week, you’ll read about 15 to 30 pages of the comic at home, using a detailed study guide that helps you:
- Understand key vocabulary and cultural references
- Reflect on comprehension questions
- Engage with the story at your own pace
When we meet in class in Edinburgh, we:
- Discuss the story and share insights
- Explore a new grammar or vocabulary topic straight from the comic
- Reinforce it through games, role-plays, theatrical activities, and creative speaking exercises
